The banning Facebook issue seems to have caught on in the press today. There is an article on the BBC News site here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6969791.stm. I was with a customer yesterday who asked a similar question. My response is that you deal with someone who spends too much time on Facebook in exactly the same way as someone who spends too much time emailing, or taking too long at lunch. Their performance drops and you put them through standard disciplinary reviews. Lotus Connections install guide

As you will have seen from Ed's previous post we are very interested at Trovus in the recent moves by companies such as IBM in the social networking space. In the last few months IBM have released Lotus Connections "Social Software for Business".We think this is a great move, however previous experience with IBM products leads us to believe that some may find it a challenge to get the product up and running. I always find it interesting to see stories of companies banning Facebook. It reminds me of when only a few years ago a friend of mine who works in academia genuinely asked if moible phones were allowed in the workplace or whether they were seen as a distraction. Soon social networking tools will be seen as essential communication devices on a par with email and we will struggle with the idea of an organisation looking to ban their use. Anyway - if there is one organisation which may have a legitimate interest in prohibiting access you would think it would be the...
