Consolidation is moving in the search market - it will be fascinating to see what happens with the bid by Microsoft for Yahoo - in pure search market terms this is the number 3 player buying the number 2 player.Firstly, it will be interesting to see what the competition authorities make of this.Secondly, it will be interesting to consider how it might pan out - will they keep both brands - how will they leverage a direct ad sales model to rival the power of Google.One thing is for sure, this says that Search is an established "old" industry when...

Something I learned from my recent trip to Lotusphere was the idea that the motivation for content contributors is very different from the motivation for content seekers, and that to increase adoption rates it is essential to cater for both groups (as well as understand that an individual might fall into both camps, and therefore be subject to different motivations at different times even when using the same site).Studies consistently show that it is usually only 2-3% of a community that are the stars or champions, and consistently post content.Well, YouTube is now offering a very obvious motivation - money....
