Is Yahoo the answer to Cisco's prays?

Future Workers

We heard from Yahoo about a focus in strategy on "openness" relating to the platform and the desire to begin to support the capability for specialist communities to appear, form, grow and die within a natural life cycle aided by the intuitive profile.  So we were intrigued to read on Techcrunch about Yahoo Kickstart, a concept in gestation that may allow recruiters and graduates to network together.  Take the conversation that we were party to in Cisco only a couple of months ago when the Marketing team explained that recruitment from their perspective at graduate level had already dived in to Facebook - why, well for all the obvious reasons about that's were the graduate are, but the most compelling was the fact that students showing a "talent" for Facebook were to some degree self selecting.  They obviously believed in the power of social networking and connectivity for a starter for a 10.

So will Yahoo's proposed solution help?  It will if viscerality ensures that the best employers and the best candidates are all willing participants.  But are we talking about a substitute to existing platforms rather the creation of a new concept and if so will profile fatigue to be the barrier that Yahoo must over come...

Talking of Facebook, do you want to know if social networking delivers business value?  Jon was contacted today by someone that we are delighted to have made contact with.  For Jon and Trovus it may well prove to be an incredibly value contact on many levels.  That's good enough for me...oh and the crack habit...it certainly seems to have come on a bit since leaving corporate land?

"Jon was contacted today by someone that we are delighted to have made contact with." As long as that outweighs the time he spends on there talking trash, then everyone wins :)
