Was a busy week last week presenting at IBM Lotusphere Comes To You at Wembley Stadium and in Manchester.  We were asked by IBM to speak with Brendan Tutt on the topic of "Social Software - Fad or Business Value".  Many thanks to IBM and Brendan for inviting us and allowing us to speak!

Both events were very well attended, and it was fun presenting to a fairly large audience.  It also gave us the opportunity to refine our messaging around the business value of Social Software which has been highly useful.

The slides will be available from IBM soon (possibly here but we'll post them when available) but the core argument in our presentation was as follows:

1)  Innovation is important to organisations today (70% identify it as a key growth driver)

2)  Social software drives innovation, therefore it has business value

3)  Caveat - if you don't plan the behaviours around adoption it will fail and you will lose business value

Of course, it got a bit more detailed than that, but the response from the audience (number of nodding heads which weren't falling asleep after lunch!) was good - come along to our next seminar if you want to hear more!
